Class, firearms have been an element of the American tradition as defense and a means of hunting or activity. As we progress through the 21st century the use of guns has changed significantly. Any additional gun laws should not be imposed on American citizens because of the second amendment, the need for protection, and the need for food and recreational sports.
The second amendment in the United States Constitution clearly states that as American citizens, we have a right to bear arms. The Constitution was created to protect the rights of America’s citizens. If the government or any other private group seeks to impose any other gun laws on American citizens then they are no better than the British regulars trying to disarm the American patriots. According to James Madison, “[to] disarm the people-… is the best way to enslave the people.” Thomas Jefferson once said "The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it."
Some people use firearms to protect themselves. England, which has one of the lowest violent crime rates involving guns, has one of the strictest gun laws in the world; however their all-around violent crime rate is one of the highest beating out the United States and even South Africa. Gun control is a problem that is ever growing. It occurs all over the world knowing no limits or boundaries. As of today, the United States of America is experiencing lots of problems with gun control. The definition of gun control is any law or policy that is based upon restricting or limiting anything involving firearms. This includes, but is not limited to possession of firearms, production, shipment, sale and even use of firearms. Currently there are quite a few gun control laws in place. Each country has its own around the world, with the United Kingdom being the strictest of anybody in regards to the possession of guns. In the end, the true victims of gun control, are the people that cannot defend themselves, it’s the law abiding citizens that have fallen prey to the criminals. It is the people that cannot, and will not be able to adequately defend themselves. Gun control is becoming a major problem across the globe, and a very promenade one in the United States.
Gun control has been changing within the past 10 years because of how the media has portrayed guns. The media has been influenced by such travesties such as Trayvon Martin, the Colorodo shooting involving James Holmes, and the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. These cases were troubling and appalling sure, but were they as bad as how the media portrayed them? These cases have caused lots of chaos in the United states. Many political activists have come forward because of this supporting gun control and wanting to see changes as soon as possible. The ever growing amount of Americans who support gun control are hoping that by putting forth laws and policies in regards to controlling guns, all violence, no matter the cause, will come to a halt. Whether or not you believe in gun control, the effects of it, and if it will help, is entirely up to you, and completely opinionated. Right now there are many different controversies surrounding the whole ordeal that is completely in
